May 2nd-4th 2014

So its still golden week and on Friday a friend of my roommate came down from tokyo where she was doing an exchange and so my roommate Helen and Laura did alot of fun stuff with her and me Emi and Bolor ended up doing some fun stuff by ourselfs or just chilled somewhere at starbucks. We were planning to do a lot of stuff however, cause of the weather and the long travel times and costs we just ended up going to the city and sitting at starbucks for a while to work on our blogs. Or we would go to the mall and just look around there. It was nice to actually have some free time and not having to think about studying for a week because usually on the weekends we have one day planned with fun stuff and then the other day we need to study or do homework assignments so then the weekend is already over. And if you are planning to go on an exchange you first think like im gonna do so much fun stuff all the time but you also wanna get good grades and not disappoint the teachers here because they try their best to teach you the right things and so I think I also need to do my best to get the right grades. So for the weekend we went to the city like I said before and we first went to go see the park because there are some old buildings of the old city center in the park or they have been rebuild to give an impression of what it used to look like. So we took a look around there and there were lots of nice spots where you could overlook the city and nice little rivers so that was really nice and relaxing and then around 2 pm we were done there and it became super cloudy so we rushed back to the train station and there we ended up sitting at starbucks for about 3 hours to just work on our blogs me and Emi and Bolor was doing some homework. And when we were sitting there we actually ended up talking with some locals from akita in half Japanese half English which was pretty fun and that way I could practice my Japanese aswell. That’s the good thing about studying in a different country, even tho you might not be super good at the specific language they speak in the country when you try speaking it even a little bit you slowly start improving. Because when you don’t know a word usually you can describe it and then they will tell you the actual word for it so that’s really nice. For the rest of the weekend we just relaxed and stayed on campus and sometimes went to the mall for some shopping.

Nog steeds vakantie en weekend dus dat is dubbel op. Vrijdag kwam een vriendin van mijn kamergenootje, die haar exchange in tokyo doet, naar akita. Dus Helen en Laura deden vooral leuke dingen met haar tijdens de vakantie en ik, Bolor en Emi deden onze leuke dingen zoals bijvoorbeeld naar de stad gaan en winkelen. In het begin wouden we veel dingen doen maar de tijd ging zo snel dus we konden niet echt veel plannen in verband met het weer of het was the ver of het was te duur. Dus uiteindelijk zijn we een dag naar het park in de stad gegaan en lekker gelunched en dat was vroeger het centrum van de stad waar de belangrijkste mensen woonde dus we hebben daar rondgekeken en veel fotos gemaakt want ze hebben bijvoorbeeld daar nog een tempel staan en een wachters storen herbouwd dus dat wel cool om te zien. En overal waren hele mooie plekjes waar je over de hele stad kon kijken terwijl je gewoon rustig tussen de bloesems en de watervallen en rustige riviertjes zat wat wel echt super leuk was vond ik. Daarna werd het weer helaas wat minder maar we hadden er op gerekend dus toen snel naar het station teruggegaan en daar ongeveer 3 uur bij de starbucks gezeten met onze laptops en lekker aan onze blogs gewerkt en zelf een tijdje met wat japanse mensen uit Akita gepraat en dat was wel hardtstikke leuk aangezien we in half Japans half engels praatte en dus goed japans kon oefenen. Dit is zeker een aanrader als je een taal leert en naar dat land gaat probeer gewoon af en toe de taal te spreken ook al zeg je soms dingen verkeerd zo leer  je wel aangezien de mensen je wel verbeteren als je iets niet goed zegt of als je niet weet hoe je iets zegt kan je het meestal wel soort van uitleggen en dan vertellen de mensen wel hoe je dat zegt. Voor de rest van het weekend lekker rustig aan gedaan en af en toe wat huiswerk gemaakt maar vooral gewoon genoten van de vrije tijd. Als je op uitwisseling gaat denk je soms van ik ga elk weekend leuke dingen doen maar uiteindelijk krijg je zoveel huiswerk en dingen waarvoor je moet leren dat het weekend meestal 1 dag leuk is en de volgende dag weer studeren betekend haha. Ik heb zelf heel erg het gevoel dat ik ook mijn best doe omdat de leraren zo hun best doen om jou de dingen te leren dat je ook goede cijfers wilt halen en wilt laten zien dat ze je de dingen goed leren. Nou dat was het eigenlijk wel voor dit weekend dus tot de volgende keer.
